InVocare was born from the AVES (Advanced Vocal Ensemble Studies) programme at Schola Cantorum Basiliensis specialising in English and Italian madrigals from the 16th and 17th centuries. With members originating from 5 continents, they are keen madrigalists who work to let the music affect and move listeners through exquisite notes, hushed silence, the spoken word and unconventional settings on stage. In 2019 InVocare was named an "IYAP Selected Promising Ensemble 2019" by the International Young Artist's Presentation in Antwerp.
As lockdowns are lifted worldwide, 2021-2022 sees InVocare returning to a busy schedule. They will be recording their debut album (more details to come) and touring major festivals around Europe including the Utrecht Early Music Festival, Laus Polyphoniae, WDR’s Forum Alte Musik Köln and others. They are also working in partnership with AMUZ (Antwerp) and BOZAR (Brussels) on projects featuring Original Pronunciation of English.
