InVocare was born from the AVES (Advanced Vocal Ensemble Studies) programme at Schola Cantorum Basiliensis specialising in English and Italian madrigals from the 16th and 17th centuries. With members originating from 5 continents, they are keen madrigalists who work to let the music affect and move listeners through exquisite notes, hushed silence, the spoken word and unconventional settings on stage. In 2019 InVocare was named an "IYAP Selected Promising Ensemble 2019" by the International Young Artist's Presentation in Antwerp. 

 

InVocare have performed in many major festivals and venues around Europe including the Utrecht Early Music Festival, AMUZ Laus Polyphoniae, WDR’s Forum Alte Musik Köln and others. In 2022 they worked in partnership with AMUZ (Antwerp) and BOZAR (Brussels) on a project exploring the Original Pronunciation of English with David Crystal.
